Welcome
I am interested in applying my years of training and experience to assist you with your problems. Evaluation is key and continues throughout treatment. To understand and help people requires collaboration with the person or persons in treatment. Psychotherapy is a key part of that collaboration. Building a therapeutic alliance with me is crucial. We work on all levels which are accessible: biologic, psychological and social, towards resolution of problems. Besides symptom relief it is important to clarify conflicts and deal with choices.
I can treat an individual, group, couple or family. Each modality has its advantages. Sometimes they are combined or sequenced. Biologic treatments may be integrated with psychotherapy. I have extensive experience with medications. Treatment for seasonal depressions (unipolar and bipolar) with Light -Phototherapy- can augment medications.
About Me
My life experiences - including marriage, parenting, helping my children mature, their marrying, seeing my grandchildren grow, and losses - have deepened and broadened the perspective and understanding I bring to my work. I continue to learn from many years of follow-up with patients. For years I trained therapists in group and family therapy at two medical school centers. I continue to hone my knowledge and skills through professional associations, including membership in an advanced peer supervision group.
